Our parish relies on the stewardship of its parishioners for vital support. In the Catholic church, to be a steward means to contribute consistently your time, talent and treasure in thanksgiving for the many blessings that God has given us. Stewardship in all its forms is received with much gratitude. “Where does the money go?” Every parish is required to publish an annual report that will provide its parishioners with that answer. What you will find is that your weekly offering pays for the maintenance of your church and its buildings; provides salaries to the staff; and supports programs that directly impact the people of your parish.
How good a steward are you? Do you use offertory envelopes to remind you of this weekly obligation. If you are out of town, the parish obligations do not stop. Good stewards continue to satisfy this weekly need, even if they are away for a time. Good stewards treat their obligation to their parish as they would any other monthly obligation.
